Volkswagen Group’s global deliveries for first – half of 2011 (July,13) has surpassed 4 million cars and SUVs for the first time, due to demand in all the markets, the German automaker said. Company sales of the Volkswagen increased 12 percent in the first six months resulting in the sale of more than 2.5 million vehicles.
Volkswagen sold 1.97 million cars globally in the first three months of 2011, compared to 1.73 million vehicles in the same period last year. It has shown a growth of 13.7 percent.
Irrespective of Volkswagen having not so good perception in America, this positive results are encouraging. However, the world’s third largest automaker (after Toyota and GM) has made it up elsewhere. Its group market share in Europe stands at an unbeatable 22 percent.
As per these figures, 27% of the 2011 Volkswagen Jettas sold are diesels. Volkswagen has announced plans to quadruple its overall sales in the U.S. over the next eight years to 800,000. Currently 37% of Volkswagen sold in the U.S. are diesel based.
