eMarketer Forecasts US Online Ad Spends to Reach $31 billion in 2011

In 2010, the country had spent around $26 billion on online advertising. The online search ad spends are estimated to be $14.38 while the online display ad spends are expected to be $12.33 billion in 2011. The online display ads include banner ads, online video, rich media and sponsorships. The online search and display ad spends are estimated to grow by 19.8% and 24.5% respectively over 2010.

Furthermore, among all the formats of online advertising, online video ad spends are estimated to grow by 52.1% in 2011 to $2.16 billion. However, in 2010, only $1.42 billion was spent on online video ads. Online ad spends on sponsorships are expected to grow by 26.4% in 2011 to $0.91 billion from $0.72 billion in 2010. The online banner ad spends are estimated to grow by 22.1% in 2011. On the whole, the online search as well as the display ad spends are expected to grow in the US in 2011. As a part of the estimations, the firm also expected that the US online ad spends would reach $49.5 billion by 2015.
