Renault to Launch Duster Soon in India

Product launches and continuous innovation in the the automobiles has become common affair in India and these activities are actually keeping the Indian auto market afresh. There are many foreign players who are operating in the luxury car segment in India. And one of the emerging auto makers of the Indian market is Renault, a France based automaker. This company is looking to brings its Duster which is a SUV in to the Indian market. Renault is bringing Duster to India to cope up with the cut throat competition in the Indian automobile market. The company also thinks that India is the potential market for Duster.

The Renault Duster has 1600cc, Petrol engine, 105 Bhp which produces a torque of 148 Nm. It has 5 speed manual transmission, bifocal head lamps in the front, the bumper area to be covered with plastic. The 16v inch wheels would also be adding up to the SUV masculinity amongst its other features.

Renault is operating in India in collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra and this association of Renault, M&M had launched their ambitious vehicle Maindra Renault Logan, but they could not taste the success with this car. Renault Logan manufacturing rights lies with Mahindra and Mahindra, but Renault is looking to launch Duster in the Renault portfolio itself. Under the ensuing plans, Renault would be launching five cars under its own name. Renault Duster is also being seen as the world’s cheapest SUV to hit India and the company may launch Duster in India anywhere around December this year or early 2012. Renault is also looking to quote a reasonable price for the SUV, while the other companies are looking to increase the prices of their vehicles.

Harley Davidson Launches New Model in India

Harley Davidson launched a new model called Forty Eight in India and with this launch Harley Davidson offers a motorcycle that promises riders a raw and radical ride as this bike brings brawn and chiseled custom with power and performance. Company also announced that this model will be available in all the Harley Davidson dealerships across the country in addition to the existing model line up of 2011. Company currently offers 14 models in India in 2011 line up.

The new Harley Davidson Forty Eight motorcycle is a new model in the sportster series with the raw, elemental appeal of the Dark Custom bikes. Company has been manufacturing sportster vehicles since 1957. Forty Eight has classic peanut fuel tank and this bike backs up its bulldog appearance with the performance of its blacked out and polished rubber mounted evolution 1200 cc V Twin engine. With Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and performance tuning with a broad torque curve, the Forty-Eight motorcycle delivers a powerfully responsive ride with smooth clutch effort.

Forty Eight custom has a cool styling with the smooth ride on new front fork sliders, a tall and fat front tire and slammed rear suspension, low solo seat, under mounted mirrors, side mount license plate and clean rear fender. It also has the embracing features like forward foot controls, low profile custom handlebar, fork mounted turn signals, slammed speedometer mounting bracket and fork brace with lightening holes. It has added accessories like dual texture seat with a height of 26 inches that fits the lone rider, while a passenger pillion, foot pegs and backrest.

Bookings for the Forty Eight will commence in April 2011 at the company’s dealerships around the India and its price will be Rs. 8,50,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Tata Motors To Hike Car Prices in India

Tata Motors announced that the company is going to increase the prices of passenger vehicles by up to 36,000 because of the increased prices of through puts. These are showing effect on the margins and the profit of the company. The competitors like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai and Honda are also considering to increase the prices of their products.

Indica which is a hatchback, is at present available at price range of Rs 3.94 lakh and Rs 4.77 lakh. Under the revised price, the cost of the car increases by 7 to 9 thousand. While the prices of vista and the Indigo CS are going to increase by Rs 8,000 to Rs 11,000 which are currently priced between Rs 3.77 lakh and Rs 5.84 lakh, respectively. The prices of other vehicles like Sumo, Sumo Grande, Manza will be increased considerably, but the prices of the Nano will not be increased.

The other major companies in the Indian market like the Maruti and the Hyundai are also looking to the increase the prices of their products. Hyundai also looking to hike the prices but it is not finalized. Honda Siel Cars India, said it would hike the prices of all its products, except luxury sedan Accord, by two to three percent with rise in the costs of inputs with effect from April 1.

Customers Can Now Buy a Tata Nano at Big Bazaar

Tata Motors has come with an innovative marketing strategy to promote the world’s cheapest car Nano. Under this marketing strategy the Tata Motors decided to place the Nano at the India’s biggest retail shopping mall. In this process from now the Nano will be sold at the Big Bazaar, it is the first time in the history of Indian automobile, that a car would be sold at a shopping mall.

Tata Nano is the cheapest car in the world and it has seating arrangement for four members. It is produced by the Indian car maker Tata for the domestic market. It has 623 cc engine and only two cylinders. Aim with the Nano introduced was to sell it at one lac rupees ($2000) but with increase in the material prices now the car is sold at $2900. It is available in three models. The company is also offering four years warranty for its current and new customers in December, 2010.

Big Bazaar has 148 outlets through out the country and the world’s cheapest car would be sold at 120 outlets of the Big Bazaar out of 148. The customers who books a nano car at the Big Bazaar will also receive an assured gift such as gold coins and value vouchers which are of Rs.1500 worth.
Both the companies are very much interested in the deal as it helps in developing synergy level between these organizations. The other benefit for the Tata Motors is that, this venture helps to expand their portfolio in terms of the range of products on display in the outlet.

Major Up Coming Cars in India

There are major cars which are going to rule the Indian market in near future. The upcoming cars in India are:

Maruti Suzuki SX4 Diesel:
It has 1.3l engine powering with 90 bhp. The SX4 design comes with ground clearance and 15-16 inch tyres to suit Indian roads. It is priced around Rs.9 lakhs.

Audi A8:
The A8 will initially be launched with the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which produces 250bhp and will have an eight-speed transmission. Its price is Rs 86 lakhs and is expected to be launched in march 2011. The other models to be launched in Indian market by Audi are Audi A8 4.2 TdI,Audi A8W12

Nissan Sedan:
Nissan may launch Sunny by mid 2011 in India, and it will be based on the same Micra platform and will have parts in common, it will be powered by a 1.5 litre dCi. The other model in Nissan is NV 200, Nissan Murano.

VW Passat:
Volkswagen will launch an all new Passat in 2011 and its price may range in between 20-25 lakhs. VW Touareg 2011 and VW Jetta 2011 are the other two cars to be launched in to Indian market.

Chevrolet Spark Electric:
GM India is ready to release the electric version of its entry level small car, the Chevrolet Spark and it will be available in 2 electric versions. Its price is in between Rs.3.5-5 lakhs. Chevrolet Beta Diesel version will also be introduced in to India in 2011.

Honda Brio:
Honda had unveiled its small concept car in the 2010 Auto Expo, and the company plans to launch this small car in India in early 2011. Its price is around Rs 4-5 lakhs.

Toyota Etios Diesel:
Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., showcased the Etios in the Auto Expo held in New Delhi in January 2010. Its price is 6.2 lakhs.

Skoda Fabia Scout:
Skoda aims to expand its portfolio in India. In 2011, Skoda plans to launch the Fabia Scout and its price is around 6-9 lakhs.

Car Sales Reports in India for 2010

The year 2010 has been profitable for the all car makers and with this profits they are looking to launch a large variety of the cars in 2011 in to the Indian market. Here are the sales reports of the car makers for the year 2010 in the Indian automobile market.

Maruti:
Maruti which has set a record-breaking sales of more than 1 lakh units in May, has surpassed that and now crossed 1.04 lakh units, a new record in highest ever monthly sales by the India’s No.1 car maker. JD Power has also certified Maruti Suzuki, as the top brand in terms of buyer satisfaction. Maruti Suzuki India reported a 14.7 percent year-on-year rise. Total car sales increased to from 95,649 last year to 109,743 in January 2010.

Ford India:
Ford Figo is a huge success in the Indian market and the American auto maker is planning to capitalize on this success by exporting it to South Africa.

Mercedes Benz:
Mercedes-Benz India has reported its highest ever annual sales in India in the year 2010. The company has seen a growth of 80% from previous year sales, with 5819 units of its cars being sold this year when compared to 3250 cars last year. Mercedes reported sales of 2490 units of E-Class in the year 2010. The company had sold 1024 units of the car in 2009.

Ford India:
According to the sources from the company, Ford India, recorded an impressive annual increase of 184 per cent in 2010 and from January to December 2010, the Company sold 83,887 units and nearly tripled its sales volume against a total of 29,488 cars sold in 2009.

TATA Motors:
Passenger car sales rose 14 percent to 32,386 year-on-year. Sales of its flagship Nano, known as the world’s cheapest car, climbed 68 percent to 6,703.

In the Indian Auto market all the automobile manufactures increased their sales in 2010 compared to the sales a year earlier.

India will beat U.S. in car sales – Chris Woodyard

Though China automobile market is growing tremendously, the South Asian nation India, is expected to beat America in auto sales, by 2015. India is expected to be the fourth largest automotive market by volume in the world. In the 2030s, sales are expected to exceed the U.S. Market. According to a recent study by consultants Booz and Co., its concluded that the global automotive game will be led by India and China at least in the number of the sales made.

Tata Nano

The largest segment in the Indian auto market is the small car’s segment and lot of consumers in India spend less than $8000 for buying a car, as the country is found to be dominated by middle class families. For example, Ford which is introducing Focus in India and US, is introducing it with lower quality materials in India so as to get the price down, and another one is of Tata, which introduced Nano costing only $2,000. Not only Ford, there are even other automakers who are operating in the global market and also targeting the Indian markets like Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Mercedes, Audi etc.

The study made by Booz also says that the contribution of the India and China markets to the world economy is growing fast. By 2050, the two markets are anticipated to hit an all time high contribution of 60% and will be rising there after.

SkodaAuto Launching SUV Skoda Yeti in India

The first sports utility vehicles, Yeti, in the country was launched by one of the promising automobile companies, SkodaAuto India. It was priced between Rs. 15.40 and 16.62 lakh. In India, the Skoda has been operating from November 2001 as a subsidiary of the SkodaAuto a.s. Czech Rupublic. This company is the fastest growing manufacturer in Europe.

This company can expands it’s product range and can serve a wider target customers by launching this Skoda Yeti. According to the officials of the SkodaAuto India, a new SUV segment, between the existing premium and low cost offer vehicles, will be created by this new model. And it will be good competitor to the C plus segment of sedans and other SUVs.

This model will come in six speed manual transmission and high pressure direct in injection technology system with mileage of 17.67 km per litre and it is powered by 2 litre TDI CR engine with a maximum power of 140 bhp at 4200 rpm.
