Former chief national security correspondent of ABC News, John McWethy died in a skiing accident in Colorado.
A witness at the site said that McWethy aged 61 was skiing fast on an intermediate trail lost control and slammed into a tree nearby.
McWethy moved to Boulder only a few days prior to the accident along with his wife. He served ABC News as a correspondent for nearly 30 years. He shifted to Colorado to enjoy the ski trails, beauty of the nature, the open spaces, the wildlife which he loved most.
McWethy’s friends and former colleagues described him as an outstanding reporter. He handled his work in many different difficult situations. He cool headedly reported from pentagon on 11th September 2001. He was honored with at least five national Emmys.
Associates close to him say that he didn’t talk about himself much and he was the kind of journalist who always wanted his story to be on the front, not himself.
